James started his career working as a Correctional Officer from 1993 to 2003 at the Brantford Jail, then moved to Ontario Lottery and Gamming as a Dual Supervisor in Security at Flamboro Casino before joining Laurier University, Brantford Campus in 2006 as the first Special Constable Supervisor for the newly created Special Constable Service department. In 2013, James was promoted to his current position as Manager.
Throughout his career, James has had the opportunity to work in various fields of safety and security providing a wide range of experiences. Working at Laurier University in Brantford provides unique challenges as the campus is integrated within the downtown core. The campus spreads over approximately 24 city blocks, intermixed with general commercial and residential properties.
Employing principles of Community Policing and CPTED, Laurier aims to create a safe environment for students, staff, faculty and visitors. Close partnerships with community members, organizations, Brantford Police Service and the City of Brantford are key factors in the successful growth and development of the campus.
